Next time you’re at the breakfast table with your partner, try this: collect a bowl of popcorn and tip it all over their newspaper. See if you get a reaction.
I’m not sure who is more to blame here – Fairfax or MBF? Whatever the case, it’s bloody annoying and both deserved to get scolded with hot coffee for treating their audience like this.

Yeah, pretty annoying. It doesn’t help that the creative isn’t too crash hot either. Surely there’s much more exciting/enjoyable ways to promote free movies than to have small yellow balls filling up a box?
Exactly – how can you make the offer of free movie tickets so infuriating? It takes a genius to be able to screw that up. No wonder that CPM’s are down to as low as $3: http://mumbrella.com.au/fairfax-slashes-digital-advertising-rates-5701
Also, not too sensitive placing a free movie ticket offer next to a story about an actress who committed suicide.
Subeditor’s rejected headline: “Spiderman actress suicides after poor performance. Her movies were so bad we had to GIVE the tickets away”
SMH is notorious for this type of ad. It’s guaranteed to piss people off as they have to close it to be able to see what they came there for.
Shame on them.
@christie Nice pick up.
@Josh It was across the Fairfax network which is even worse
